In the first and second articles of the SupPorter project review, we reviewed his idea and found three main goals that include:
- Allowing users to make donations and participate in charity remotely, but at the same time with minimal commissions (3% instead of 5-7%)
- Providing the ability to make payments simultaneously in the fiat currencies, like dollars and euros, and in crypto-currencies, like Bitcoin and Ether
- Increase of public confidence in charity and donations in general
In this regard, a decentralized platform will be created that uses blocking technology and smart contracts to provide its participants with the opportunity to donate their money to various non-profit and political organizations that are created to improve human lives, provide people in need, fight rare diseases, protection of the environment.
In the final part of the project review, we gathered to pay attention to the problem of public distrust of charity, donations and non-profit organizations and companies.
Causes of mistrust
Of course, people have good reasons not to trust various charities, because many of them can be fraudulent, deceive people and not transfer a penny to the accounts of relevant institutions. But not all companies deceive.
If the cases of fraud and deception are the first cause of mistrust, the second is the incompetence of non-profitable companies, which is difficult to determine in advance, and therefore the collected funds can be used completely irrationally. In their technical documentation, the SupPorter creators gave a couple of examples of such unsuccessful fundraising for seemingly good intentions.
In 2012, the American Foundation for the Fight against Cancer raised about $ 187 million to treat cancer patients, but the result was not quite what the charity participants expected. Only 3% of all collected funds went to the planned target, the remaining 97% - for the purchase of cars, vacation pay for employees, season tickets to gyms and so on.
Another situation occurred in the American Association of the Red Cross. For her, $ 500 million was donated, which was planned to be spent for help after the earthquake in Haiti. As a result, within the framework of the project, only 6 houses were built, which obviously do not attract such a sum. But the fact remains - 500 million dollars (or much less, because someone clearly took their share) went on the construction of 6 houses in Haiti.
In this regard, many people and their reluctance to help even proven non-profit and political organizations can be understood, because collecting a large amount of money for good deeds, they manage to either spend them completely differently, or in general to call into question the fact that was spent at least a tenth of the total amount.
SupPorter solution
In order for people to start trusting organizations and have a desire to support them, information about receiving donations and their use should be open. This level of transparency will be achieved through the use of blocking technology, which allows you to record each transaction and does not allow unauthorized changes to this data.
Moreover, thanks to SupPorter, all information about donations can be made in the annual reporting, as, for example, forms IRS 990/1120 and others. Thus, the population will have the opportunity to have reliable data about whether the organization received their financial assistance and how exactly this money was used, for good purposes or not.
Moreover, regardless of jurisdictions, types of crypto currencies or local fiat currencies, transactions will always be as fast as possible, because every time a user sends funds to an organization, whether in BTC or in dollars, they are automatically converted to SupPorter tokens.
Thus, not only the speed of transactions will be achieved, but also the convenience of users on both sides. The donors will be able to send any currency to the account of organizations, and thus do not have to have hundreds of different wallets to separately take the crypto currency, and separately - Fiat.
Instead, they all interact using the SupPorter tokens, but they do not have problems with their conversion, because on the platform it is carried out by carefully thought-out smart contracts automatically.
